4. THE RITZ PARIS

The iconic Paris grande dame, where Princess Diana spent her last night, reopened in 2016 after the property was restored to its former Belle Époque glory during a 4-year renovation by acclaimed architect Thierry W. 3. THE PENINSULA PARIS

2. SHANGRI-LA HOTEL PARIS

Built in 1896 as the home of Prince Roland Bonaparte (grand nephew of Napoleon), the Shangri-La Paris is an icon of style and elegance. 1. HÔTEL DE CRILLON, A ROSEWOOD HOTEL, PARIS

Originally built in 1758, Hôtel de Crillon enjoys an unrivaled position overlooking Place de la Concorde. The property reopened in 2018 as a Rosewood Hotel after undergoing an extensive four-year restoration, its past providing a rich backdrop for its modern-day story. Six Senses Yao Noi in Phuket occupies a natural 24 acre site and is surrounded by tropical forest. This pick of the luxury hotels in Phuket, Thailand can be found on Yao Noi, a private island in Phang Nga Bay on the Andaman Sea.

Anantara Layan is one of the best hotels in Thailand for those who want to get away from it all. A sense of seclusion awaits guests at this luxury resort on the fine white sands of Layan Beach. The levels of comfort, luxury and service are exemplary.

Each suite or detached villa provides guests with every amenity they could possibly desire. These include private balconies or gardens, direct beach access and plunge pools or hot tubs. 3. The Surin, Phuket

The Surin can also be found by glorious Pansea Beach, and offers a wealth of five star facilities for discerning guests. There are just over 100 suites and cottages here, each of which features a spacious, comfortable and stylish interior.

Surrounded by swaying coconut palms, guests can fully unwind at this resort on Phuket, AKA the Pearl of the Andaman. The hotel formerly known as The Pansea was one of Phuket’s first. It now counts a sublime spa and a range of appealing restaurants and bars among its impressive facilities.

4. Paresa, Phuket

Located on the western side of Phuket is Paresa, a heavenly hideaway on the Andaman Sea coast. It commands one of the best views of all Thailand hotels, as it clings to the side of a cliff overlooking the cerulean ocean. The trees dotted all around give the resort a private, exclusive feel.

A range of villas offering between one and four bedrooms are available. Some feature open-air bathtubs, infinity pools or panoramic ocean views. Other amenities at Paresa include a spa, Thai and Mediterranean restaurants and cookery classes.

5. COMO Point Yamu, Phuket

Set among the iconic limestone cliffs of Phang Nga Bay, Como Point Yamu is positioned at the very tip of the Cape. It overlooks the turquoise waters of the Andaman Sea. The colour scheme within reflects the location, with lots of bright white plus blue or aqua accents.

Some of the larger suites here have dedicated dining or lounge areas, or four poster beds. The resort also has Thai and Italian restaurants, a gym, an infinity pool with incredible views over  the bay and a plush spa.

6. The Slate, Phuket

The Slate stands out somewhat from the average Thailand 5 star hotel due to its striking geometric and ultra modern design. In fact this was inspired by Phuket history, harking back to the days when the island was known for tin mining. Swaying palms and a sandy lagoon lapped by crystal clear waters add a natural touch.

The Slate boasts a gorgeous garden spa plus three pools, including one with a swim-up bar and an infinity pool. A bar with pool table, a steakhouse and a fusion restaurant help to ensure guests remain entertained and well-fed.

8. The Peninsula, Bangkok

The stylish Peninsula has long been one of the most renowned luxury hotels in Bangkok. It’s positioned on the banks of the river and there are views over the water or the Thai capital from each room.

Capella forms part of the upmarket Chao Phraya Estate, which is located by the water in Bangkok. The hotel shares this area with a plush apartment block and a Four Seasons resort. A range of riverfront rooms are available, some of which have private plunge pools.
